Established in 2001, Red Carpet Tours is a company which provides guests with tours that are built around, for and by fans of The Lord of the Rings' movies and the upcoming feature, The Hobbit. The aim of the company is to bring people from all over the world to experience the fellowship of a shared journey to the breathtaking landscapes of Middle Earth. They offer a variety of tour options in which guests are able to explore the beautiful New Zealand countryside.

After several years of experience in the tourism industry, Victor set out with his wife Raewyn on a 6 month tour of New Zealand in 2001, for the purpose of selecting fitting Lord of the Rings sites and gaining approval for access. To make the tours as authentic as possible, Victor sought out and acquired the assistance of longtime J.R.R. Tolkien scholar and enthusiast, Erica Challis. Erica's relationship with both the fan base of the movies and the film company allowed for an amazing experience for all who ride along with Red Carpet Tours.

Since officially beginning the Middle Earth tours on a modest scale in 2002, Victor has established cordial working relationships with landowners in helping to develop their private Lord of the Rings sites into workable businesses. Mr. James is incredibly proud of his instrumental role in the growth of the business as well as the others who have benefitted from its growth.
