The World Mask Festival is to be held in Bali between November 23rd and 16th this year.

BALI, INDONESIA, October 06, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Visitors to Bali next month will be able to attend the World Mask Festival, an event that will provide a showcase and celebration of the role played by masks in global culture.
 
Organised by the International Mask Arts and Culture Organization (IMACO), the event will be held from November 23rd to 26th this year in the Buleleng region of Bali, an area with a rich mask culture of its own.
 
The region has been making preparations for the event for the majority of the year to date, with the Gedung Budaya venue having undergone a significant refurbishment that was completed last month.
 
Sun Hyun Kwan, a representative of IMACO and one of the festival's founders, paid a visit to the area in March 2011 and declared it to be a suitable venue, thanks largely to the iconic use of ceremonial masks in the local wayang wong dancing style.
 
It is thought that around 300 international participants hailing from 56 countries will travel to the World Mask Festival to take part.
 
The event will help to aid IMACO's efforts to raise the international profile of masks and the way they reflect local cultures and identity.
